Hopefully, your office move went smoothly. This year, NISO will celebrate our 75th anniversary of serving the information community through advancing standards-based efficiency. This spring, we will host the international standards community focused on information and documentation for an ISO Technical Committee (TC46) plenary meeting week in Washington, DC. It has been ten years since NISO has hosted this important meeting and it gives us a great opportunity to highlight our leadership role in the international community. During the week of meetings, on the evening of May 7, NISO will be hosting a gala dinner at the National Archives, with the generous support of Bowker. At this celebration will be welcomed by the Archivist of the United States, David Ferriero, and we will have a keynote presentation by Vint Cerf. Dr. Cerf, Vice President and Internet Evangelist with Google, is an American Internet pioneer, who is recognized as one of "the fathers of the Internet" and will be talking about the role of standards in information distribution and the preservation of digital content. We are inviting a group of industry leaders to join us in this celebration and I would like to extend a personal invitation to you to participate in celebrating this milestone and the important role that standards play in information distribution. We would welcome your participation in this event as well as more generally, the participation of your staff in the various meetings that week. If you are interested in attending, please email me and I will add you to the VIP list. More information about the week's full list of activities is available on the NISO website at: http://www.niso.org/international/2014_tc46_meeting/ If you have any questions or would like additional information, I would be happy to speak with you.
