From SMiksa at unt.edu Mon Oct 15 15:20:08 2007 From: SMiksa at unt.edu (Shawne Miksa) Date: Mon, 15 Oct 2007 14:20:08 -0500 Subject: [Studentchapadv] meeting at ASIST Message-ID: <471377180200009300007E64@GWIA.unt.edu> Greetings from Texas! Very much looking forward to some actual 'cold' weather in Milwaukee. We've been stuck in the 80s and 90s here in North Texas. I hear it might be in the 40s up north--woohoo! Student Chapters Advisors are scheduled to meet on Monday, Oct 22, 5:15pm, in the room EXECUTIVE D. I hope that all Chapter Advisors who are attending ASIST conference will attend. If you did not see the posting about the Student Chapter of the Year Award---it was a tie between Simmons and UCLA. Congrats to both! We will discuss both this and the student chapter reports at this meeting. If there has been a change in chapter advising at your school please send that information to me so we can get the list updated on the ASIST website, as well as either subscribe or unsubscribe people to this listserv. See http://www.asist.org/Chapters/chapters-student.html for the list as it currently stands. I know there are some changes that haven't been made to it. Our meeting agenda isn't set 100% yet, so if you want to put something in particular on it please let me know. Finally, student members have been informed (via listserv) about the students-only 'gathering' that will take place in the Presidential Suite. Student Chapter Faculty Advisors --love ya--are more than welcome to contribute "donations" for eats and drinks. Support your students! most sincerely, best, ta.... *********************************************** Shawne D. If Student Chapters are at all able to do this please give it a try, althought I realize its a bit late at this time. I will lash myself with a wet noodle many many times. humbled, S.Miksa ******************************************************************************* Dear Student Chapters, The membership committee would like to encourage networking, and help new members and first-time conference attendees to find like-minded colleagues at ASIS&T 2007. In order to promote this concept, we are asking all chapters and SIGs to create and submit a group logo. This should be an image file in a GIF or JPG format, which is no larger than 1 inch by 1 inch in size. We will take care of printing these logos for distribution at ASIS&T. Everyone at the conference will then be able to select and attach any set of logos to their name badge to indicate their interests and affiliations. Here are examples of how this might work: one could choose to attach logos from a home chapter, the chapter from the region where the member grew up or went to school. One might wear logos from SIGs one belongs to and from SIG topics one is interested in. Conference attendees will be able to instantly identify people with similar interests or affiliations from the logos attached to their badges. We are particularly interested in using the logos to introduce the various ASIS&T groups at the New Member/First Attendee Brunch. That way, these new members will be able to easily recognize and get to know people from various groups throughout the week. SENDING TAGS Please send your 1" square tags/images/logos directly to Heather D. Pfeiffer at: hdp at cs.nmsu.edu If your group is having trouble coming up with even a basic design you may also send Heather email, and she can send you some examples of what we have already received for tags or can get the professional graphics person in contact with you to help you get started. Please include the answers to the following questions with your tags, request for help, or your plans: 1) Contact person who will address any problems with images or to work with the graphics designer: 2) Email for contact person: 3) Chapter name: 4) Minimum number of copies of the tag needed for the conference: 5) Guess of maximum number of copies of the tag needed for the conference (don't forget that there may be many alumni that will want a tag from your school chapter!): We hope your group will participate in this fun activity, but if you have any questions, please contact Heather (hdp at cs.nmsu.edu) or Caryn (caryn.anderson at simmons.edu) directly. Looking forward to seeing all of you at ASIS&T 2007. Thanks! Heather D. Pfeiffer Caryn Anderson Membership Committee -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed...
